Why it matters

Garland County, Arkansas’s jail runs a farm program, and Garland County Habitat for Humanity has built more than 170 homes since 1995. A federally funded review of studies found that vocational training in prison raised employment after release more than other education did. We ask Montgomery County to pilot an optional, paid crew that builds homes alongside a licensed builder and a housing nonprofit.

What’s happened

Raised by residents — not yet carried to the county.

This is a petition to your elected officials — like the clipboard at the courthouse door. It does not put anything on the ballot; in Arkansas and most states that takes ink signatures from registered voters. Signatures are counted, not verified — one per browser; the delivered copy removes duplicates. Like everything here, petitions can’t campaign for candidates or ballot measures, or name county staff.
